What an agent is, without the big words
It is a program that does three things, every day, at a set time.
It looks. A page, a list, an inbox, a catalogue.
It sorts. It keeps only what matches the criteria you set in advance.
It writes to you. An email, with what it found. Nothing found, no email.
It decides nothing. It answers nobody on your behalf. It tells you, and you act.
An agent in service, every day
I built one for a friend who was looking for a house to rent.
Every day it checks the new listings. It discards the ones that do not match the budget, the region and the number of rooms set at the start. It sends an email with the rest.
It did it yesterday. It will do it tomorrow. That is the whole point.
A person gets tired of it. They skip a day, then two, then the week. The agent does not.
The argument is not that it is clever. The argument is that it is consistent.
The same mechanism, applied to your business
The case above is about property. The mechanism is the same everywhere: look, sort, tell. Here are four common uses.
Your Google reviews
A new review arrives. You read it the same evening, not three weeks later. A negative review answered the same day does far less damage.
The tenders in your trade
Public contracts and calls for tender are published in places nobody remembers to check. The agent checks them every day and only tells you about the ones that match your activity and your region.
Your competitors’ prices
Three or four items you also sell. The price changes, you know the next day. You decide whether to follow.
Your stock running out
The agent watches your quantities and warns you before an item runs out, not on the day a customer asks for it.

What an agent does not do
It replaces nobody. It does a repetitive task that nobody enjoys.
It does not decide for you. It informs you, you choose.
It can only look at what is accessible. Some sites forbid automatic checking: in that case I tell you before we start, not afterwards.
It has to be tuned. The first few days are spent adjusting the criteria, otherwise it sends too many emails and you stop reading them.
What an agent costs
An agent is not an object handed over once. It runs every day, on a server, and it needs watching. The price follows that reality.
Set-up — CHF 180. Together we define what it watches and on what criteria. It is built, tested, and you receive its first report.
Then CHF 12.90 a month. This covers the server, the daily running, and the repair on the day the site it watches changes shape — which always happens in the end.
Without a subscription, an agent stops at the first change to the site it watches, and nobody notices. That is the worst case: you believe you are being kept informed, and you are not. The subscription exists so that this does not happen.
You can stop whenever you want. What the agent has already found stays with you.
